Announcement of August 11th Events – Celebration of 4th Anniversary of the Institute and Fiduciary Duty and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 at 75

1211 Avenue of the Americas, Ropes & Gray LLP, New York, NY

Introduction

Washington, D.C. – The Institute is proud to announce two separate events at Ropes & Gray LLP, New York, NY on August 11th. The first, taking place from 4.00-5.30pm, celebrates the 4th anniversary of the Institute. Friends and supporters will join together to highlight the past, present, and future work the Institute has done to further fiduciary principles. The second event will commemorate the Advisers Act of 1940 from 5.30-8.30pm, and will include a panel discussion of nationally recognized experts on fiduciary duty. This discussion focuses solely on whether or not the Advisers Act is still working in today’s environment, 75 years after its creation.

Allan Slider

Allan Slider, founder of FeeOnlyNetwork.com and a good friend of the Institute is interviewed by Kevin Price, Host of the Price of Business Show.

Slider explains in this interview why only 2% of financial advisors—those that are “fee-only”—can offer unbiased financial advice, free from the conflicts of commission, and are held to the highest standard of fiduciary care.

Carolyn McClanahan

"With the advent of 401(k)s and the decimation of pension plans to ensure financial security in old age, a fiduciary standard is more important than ever. The public needs to be confidant that advisors helping them plan for their retirement years always and only act in their best interest as a fiduciary. I'm happy to endorse organizations such as the Institute for the Fiduciary Standard that promote protections for those who need to secure their financial future."

- Carolyn McClanahan, Founder of Life Planning Partners
